Acceptable Web Page Load Time

Hey Guys, just wanted to know your opinion about the "optimal" web page load time...Is there any?
Some people claim that anything below the 6sec load threshold is considered ok.
What do you think? I have lots of photos on my blog and I'm reviewing my page speed metrics...
